Penza, 22 October 2013. PenzaNews. The head of Penza administration Roman Chernov asked the responsible persons to explain the reasons for delay in demolition of an unoccupied house in Kuibyshev Street.

“There was information in the media that the burnt in the night of 21 October house was unsettled 5 years ago. I am asking all the authorities of the local government bodies, responsible for property demolition, recognized unfit and uninhabitable, give me the answer if it was really so? And if yes, then what was the reason why the house was not destroyed. Why was it standing all this time, being a real threat to the life of indefinite range of people,” Roman Chernov said during the weekly briefing in the Mayor’s office on Tuesday, October 22.

According to him, acceleration of the demolition process will allow to more quickly organize a tender for the construction of new buildings and structures.

“It is necessary for the city budget and for the development of urban territories,” the head of the administration of Penza added.

The press service of the Mayor’s office told news agency PenzaNews that 162 houses, 148 of which have been unsettled since 2008, participate in the program “Resettlement of citizens from unfit housing in Penza for 2013–2015.”

“As of 18 October, 123 unsettled houses were demolished in Penza. Currently demolition works are being carried out in 6 houses, and hearings in courts are held regarding the remaining buildings. All the houses are disconnected from the communications and will be demolished according to the plan until 31 December 2013,” the press service pointed out.
