Alexander Gulyakov noted that public lectures are only gaining popularity in Penza, however, they have a great potential in terms of enriching students and teachers with knowledge.
“Lecturers from the US, Britain and Poland gave their speeches here. Now we are negotiating it with the Japanese expert on nanotechnology. Local specialists also give their lectures,” the head of PSU said.
He noted that events of the similar format generate interest among students from different departments, who get the opportunity to get acquainted with related sciences.
“Moreover, students get used to same teachers and get tired of them. And this way they have a chance to get a fresh piece of information,” Alexander Gulyakov explained.
Sergey Ulatov, in his turn, expressed his willingness to assist in inviting foreign experts to Penza.
“World Bank is positioning itself as a bank of global knowledge, and it is our competitive advantage. In each case we try to understand how to help this particular university and make lectures most useful. Perhaps we should think of organization of regular lectures. And they can be held not only by the representatives of World Bank in Moscow, but also economists working in the United States and Europe. We have access to such specialists,” he said.
The minister of economy of the Penza region Olesya Safonova, who also attended the meeting, reminded that the work team to develop a complex plan of collaboration with World Bank was already created in the region.
“The cooperation agreement might be signed in the nearest future,” she said.
