The company Megafon continues to successfully collaborate with the office of the Federal Service for Execution of Punishment of Russia in the Penza region in order to ensure functioning of the electronic tracking ankle device; the monitoring was launched 3 years ago.

“Megafon SIM cards are used in electronic bracelets of those, sentenced to personal restraint. This year their number has increased by 20%. Bracelets allow tracking the convicted, and thus make the work of employees of the territorial penal inspection easier,” the press service of the Penza branch of JSC Megafon told news agency “PenzaNews.”

The company noted that in the last years personal restraint as a more humane form of punishment has been used more actively.

The director of the Penza branch of JSC Megafon Alexey Bryukhachev explained that the project implementation in the territory of the region was made possible due to the wide coverage and reliable network that includes more than 250 base stations, more than half of which function in regional centers and villages.

“Along with SIM cards our company provides the resources of mobile network and fiber optic communication channels for transmitting a signal from bracelets to the regional server of the office of the Federal Service for Execution of Punishment in the Penza region and then further on the on-call panels of the inspectorate,” he said.
