Penza, 14 November 2013. PenzaNews. Residents of the Penza region celebrated World Diabetes Day on Thursday, November 14.

In health care institutions, there were organized Open Doors Day and preventive actions, the largest of which was the campaign held at the Penza concert hall “Molodezhny.” More than 120 people took part in the event.

Penza residents, including those who think they are healthy, were suggested to undergo screening.

The chief endocrinologist of the Penza region Olga Shimokhina noted than only joint efforts of doctors and patients can help fight the disease.

“Diabetes is a burning problem, because it is a non-infectious epidemy,” she said.

During the event, doctors presented their speeches in front of the audience, they spoke about the prevention of diabetes and the lifestyle of patients. Afterwards the audience was presented the film “Verdict overturned.”
