Penza, 19 November 2013. PenzaNews. The need to revive the practice of property insurance has been widely discussed by the public and experts in the Penza region following the increase in natural disasters – drought, floods, hurricanes and fires that regularly kill people in the region and destroy property.

According to the specialists, a growing number of people find the necessity in insurance of their immovable – houses, countryside houses, cottages, and not only construction of buildings, but also interior and exterior decoration, engineering equipment, communications and household goods.

As the deputy director of retail insurance of the Penza branch of Rosgosstrakh Nadezhda Emelina told news agency “PenzaNews,” insurance of individuals’ property is a priority area in the work of the organization.

“We regularly make the special offer “Season of profitable insurance,” when one can get a policy on their immovable and household goods at a very attractive price. Until the end of November, considerable discounts are provided for first-time contracts on houses and buildings,” the agency interlocutor said.

She clarified that the list of risks, covered by the insurance policy, is broad and comprises fire, explosion, water damage as a result of accidents in water supply systems, heating, canalization, vehicle collisions, falling of trees on houses, natural disasters.

“All these risks are included in the standard contract. The price of the policy depends on such factors as building parameters and selected insurance terms and conditions,” the representative of Rosgosstrakh added.

Nadezhda Emelina particularly drew attention to the need to insure property at its real value so that the payment could fully cover the damage.

“Unfortunately, sometimes people understate the insurance value of their property to pay less for an insurance policy, but this approach is fraught with unpleasant consequences. Saving a few hundred rubles, you can lose tens of thousands,” she stressed.

The representative of Rosgosstrakh added that since the beginning of the year, policyholders were paid 28 million rubles for property damage.

“Payment to fire victims – which is, unfortunately, the most common insurance event – amounted to over 20 million rubles for 10 months of 2013. Owners of private houses in the Penza region, damaged by floods, were paid 3,3 million rubles,” Nadezhda Emelina said.

According to her, those, suffered damage from the drought of 2010 and the flood of the spring in 2012, took full advantage of insurance.
