Rostelecom finishes one more stage of building optical network in Penza region

Penza, 21 November 2013. PenzaNews. Rostelecom broadened the network of subscribers’ access to the Internet using FTTB technology (Fiber to the Building) by more than 1,1 thousand ports in Penza, Kamensk, Nikolsk and Zasechny village.

As the press secretary of the Penza branch of JSC Rostelecom Alexei Makarov reported to news agency “PenzaNews,” the optical network also covers new territory – high-rise buildings in Yubileinaya and Maksim Gorky Streets in Lopatino.

“The company currently is running the commercial launch of the broadband network to high-rise buildings in other districts of the Penza region,” the agency interlocutor added.

He explained that FTTB technology implies data transfer through fiber-optic lines with high banding, for which the company mainly uses underground utilities.

“Rostelecom subscribers, living in the optical network coverage area, enjoy all the benefits of the company, including unified federal services “Home Internet” and “Interactive TV.” Currently new subscribers are offered “Non-stop” option with the Internet with speed up to 60 Mbts/s and “Interactive TV” – two packages with TV channels to choose from with payment by installments after the first year of use. In addition, the popular federal offer “Try HD” is extended until the end of February 2014; using this option, subscribers of “Interactive TV” first time activated the corresponding package will be able to watch TV channels in high definition within two months free of charge,” Alexei Makarov remarked.

The press secretary of the Penza branch said that in 2011–2013 Rostelecom greatly widened the data transfer network organized on FTTB technology in the territory of the Penza region.

“The opportunity to use modern communication services is given not only to Penza residents, but also to people living in districts of the region and its villages. At present, more than 2,6 thousand high-rise buildings in Penza and the Penza region are covered by the fiber-optic network of Rostelecom. The company plans to further develop the multiservice network in the territory of the region,” he said.
