The corresponding order of the regional government was signed by the governor Vasily Bochkarev last Thursday, November 21.

According to the document, a copy of which is available to new agency “PenzaNews,” the Ministry of Forestry of the Penza region in cooperation with the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in the period from 10 to 31 December are encharged to organize raids on forest sites, where illegal felling is probable.

In addition, it is proposed to organize checkpoints in the territory of the region in order to detect smuggling of fir-trees and pine branches.

It is also planned to enhance the awareness of citizens against illegal tree felling of conifers.
