The list was compiled by the interregional public center “For the Safety of Russian Roads” for January-November 2013.

According to the data provided, the first 12 positions are occupied by regions with sufficient road safety that belong to the “green” zone. Among the leaders there are the Novosibirsk and Belgorod regions, as well as Moscow.

The “yellow” zone are places from 10 to 36. Regions that took these places are considered constituent entities of the federation with insufficient safety.

For instance, in accordance with the published information, in the Penza region with the total population of about 1,37 million people there happened 569 car accidents within the period, in which 40 people died and 705 got injures of varying severity.

Eight constituent entities of the Russian Federation entered the “red” zone – their roads are recognized most life-threatening. These are the Astrakhan, Samara, Omsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Tambov regions, the Zabaikalye and Krasnoyarsk territories. According to the experts, the most complex situation is in the Kirov and Leningrad regions.
