Penza traffic police enhances security measures

Penza, 30 December 2013. PenzaNews. Transport police officers of the Line Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation are beefing up security. This was reported by the head of the Line Department Dmitry Rakov during an interdepartmental meeting organized in connection with the terrorist attacks happened in Volgograd on December 29 and 30.

“Measures have been taken to ensure public safety in the transport sector. Since December 29 the police has been taking special security measures, police squads are strengthened. In almost every suburban train and long distance trains there are police squads and criminal law enforcement officers who wear civilian clothing and work under cover to get any information,” Dmitry Rakov said.

According to him, the railway station “Penza-I” and the Penza airport are equipped well-enough to ensure safety.

“There are metal detectors at the railway station, the airport is equipped with an introscope. On holidays Police Dog Service will be involved in work. We hope we will provide maintenance of order at a high level, but citizens also should help us,” the head of the Penza Line Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, Transport division, said.

Dmitry Rakov expressed opinion that significant funds should be invested in prevention terrorism.

“We often hear on TV that families of victims get compensation. This money should better be spent for prevention of such tragedies,” he said.
