“The situation in frustrating. We have been to public leisure centers– “Premier League,” “Collage,” “Sovremennik,” Central Department Store visited by a large number of people in the daytime and in the evening. There is simply no security. Guards, if there are any, do not even have manual metal detectors. Not to mention the lack of fixed frame doors. There is not even a sign that video monitoring is ongoing,” Nikolay Sarmin said.

According to him, currently there are 27 CCTV cameras in the city.

“Crimes do not occur where cameras are placed. Even if committed, they are cleared. Therefore, you as heads of the sites should think of their security. I understand what your main goal is, but we should work together. Call each time a suspicious item is found,” the deputy police head of the department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in the Penza region said.

Nikolay Sarmin also informed the participants of the measures the police will take to ensure security during the New Year and Christmas holidays.

“We have been working in enhanced security regime since today. It will be in effect until 9 a.m., December 9. We completed the alignment of personnel. Additional squads were sent to guard the region borders – from the side of Spassk, the Kuznetsky area, Issa and Kondol. Additional police posts started working. In addition, cynologists with specially trained dogs were involved in work,” he remarked.
