Over 50 thousand residents of the Penza region will presumably take part in mass New Year celebrations which will be held in the region on the night of December 31 to January 1. The press service of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation told news agency PenzaNews on Monday, December 30.

“160 public events are planned to be held,” the press service said.

The press service added that more than 650 police officers and 120 vehicles will ensure public order and safety of citizens.

“Additional squad of 250 police officers was also formed,” the press service said.

The regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation noted that since Monday, December 30, the Penza police has been working in the enhanced security regime.

“To prevent crimes in public places and residential sectors, the police carries out a number of responsive and preventive measures. Security measures are enhanced in public places,” the press service concluded.
