He called on the Orthodox believers to strain after goodness and prove their love for God through service to others.

“And there are many ways to show that love. Among us, there are people who need attention and care: the elderly, disabled, large families, sick, those in prison, and in the difficult life circumstances. Let us help them ourselves or by transferring funds to the social department of the diocese. Unite into Orthodox unions of youth, doctors, teachers, movement “For life” that preaches moral and healthy lifestyle, and other Christian associations. Let your word to neighbors be dissolved in love,” he said.

Metropolitan Benjamin called Penza residents to often show mercy.

“Do charitable giving and philanthropy. Participate in the construction of the Saviour Cathedral, in the revival of Metropolis Pervohram. I am grateful to everyone who has already made contribution to its revival. Little is left to the consecration of the cathedral and, God willing, our common cause will be accepted by God – prayer candle to God will once again be lit, and many thousands will join the salutary fruits of the Nativity and Resurrection of Christ – to the saving sacraments of the church,” he noted.

As news agency PenzaNews reported earlier, Metropolitan Benjamin headed Penza department until the end of 2013 after which by the decision of the Holy Synod he became the eminent bishop of Ryazan and Mikhailov.

Benjamin arrived in Ryazan as head of the Ryazan Archdiocese on 5 January 2014.
