Penza, 15 January 2014. PenzaNews. Penza authorities cannot influence the cost of service of private carriers who according to market economy conditions have the right to establish the price for tickets in fixed-route taxis within marginal rate in the region. This was reported by the first deputy chairman of the regional government Sergey Kamolov during a briefing on Wednesday, January 15.

“When ordering a taxi we do not argue with a driver why he will carry us through the city for 300 rubles, not for a different sum of money,” Sergey Kamolov said.

He recalled that in December 2013 there were established marginal rates of 16 rubles for passengers traveling and luggage carrying in fixed-route taxis, and 17 rubles 17 kopeks in trolleybuses and buses of high capacity.

The first deputy chairman of the government noted that the region is the last to establish new marginal rate in the Volga Federal District over the last 2,5 years.

“They have not been considered since the summer of 2011. Apparently, the economic situation changed, as well as suppliers’ expenditure did. All the aspects should have been reflected. Our rates are average in the Volga District. There are regions with lower marginal rates. Orenburg, for example, which is an oil region where the diesel fuel is cheaper. But there are regions where these rates are higher – 18-20 rubles,” Sergey Kamolov concluded.
