The polar bear appeared in the Penza zoo in November 2013.
In September 2011, the animal was found by Yamal fishermen on the river Tadibe-Jaha, then temporarily located in the Moscow zoo.
It was decided to transfer the bear named Belyi [White] to the Penza zoo, where it was planned to equip an enclosure specifically for it.
During 2012-2013, the zoo developed documentation for the construction of the enclosure, sought sponsors and held a variety of events.
Also the administration of the zoo applied for participation in the program by Rosneft which took custody of all polar bears kept in zoos in Russia, according to the website of the zoo.
