Penza volunteers participated in 35 cases of fire extinguishing in January

Penza, 6 February 2014. PenzaNews. Volunteers took part in extinguishing 35 fires that occurred in the Penza region in January 2014.
As the press service of the main department of the Ministry of Emergency Situation of Russia in the region told news agency PenzaNews that currently almost every remote village has volunteer fire-brigade.
“As a rule, they are the first to arrive at the scene,” the ministry said.
The main department added that volunteers are also actively involved in prevention work among the population.
“Around one thousand people were involved in such activities in the past month. They reminded the residents of villages on fire safety measures and distributed over four thousand leaflets and brochures,” the Ministry of Emergency Situation of Russia in the region clarified.
