“All gymnasiums and lyceums retain their status and continue to operate in the same order,” he explained.

Yuri Golodyaev added that, in accordance with the law, gymnasiums and lyceums, as well as any other educational institutions, have their districts of operation — houses from which they are obliged to admit children.

“The demographic situation does not allow us completing schools located near lyceums. They have a lot of unoccupied places, so it was decided to establish minimal districts. If a child decides to enter a different educational institution, there should be no obstruction to that. Gymnasium admit students not only to the first grade, but also to other grade depending on availability,” he explained the existing procedure.

Yuri Golodyaev also clarified that no later than March 10 gymnasia should begin receiving documents from the parents of children living in the established districts, and no later than August 1 — from the representatives of other districts.

It is expected that the ratio of students from nearby districts will be over 5-10% of the total number of gymnasium students, the press service of Penza administration.
