Penza, 25 February 2014. PenzaNews. Social action to prevent road accidents involving children will be held in Penza on Wednesday, February 26.

“As a part of the action traffic police officers will look for violators of rules of transportation of young passengers in Ternopolskaya Street — from Prospekt Stroiteley Street to Ladozhskaya Street,” the group of propaganda of Traffic Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the region told news agency “PenzaNews.”

The traffic police said that the place of the action was not chosen spontaneously — it is in the vicinity of gymnasium No. 13 and school No. 57.

“Transportation of children under 12 years old in the vehicles equipped with seat belts should be carried out using special restraining devices appropriate to weight and height of a young passenger, or other means to fasten a child using a seatbelt. A child can be transported on the front seat only in a special car seat. Violation of these requirements are punishable by an administrative fine of three thousand rubles, which is comparable to the cost of the car seat,” the department noted.

According to official statistics, 15 accidents involving children, including seven cases involving minor passengers, took place on the territory of Penza since the beginning of 2014.

The greatest number of such accidents were registered on the territory of Oktyabrsky and Zheleznodorozhny districts.
