Yuri Golodyaev: No information about pedophile case in gymnasium No. 13 is available

The head of the department of education of Penza Yuri Golodyaev called the information about a possible case of pedophilia in gymnasium No. 13, which received wide publicity, “a problem” and refused to comment on the fact that one of the teachers of the educational institution may be involved in the incident.

“The department of education of Penza has no information on the issue specified in your inquiry dated February 21, 2014,” the response to the editorial inquiry received by new agency PenzaNews signed by Yuri Golodyaev reads.
However, according to recent data that were obtained by news agency “PenzaNews,” it is a question of criminal offense under Art. 133 of the Criminal Code “Sexual coercion.”
In accordance with this article of the Criminal Code of Russia, the act against a minor shall be punished by compulsory labor for a term up to five years with deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term up to three years or without it, or imprisonment for up to five years with deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term up to three years or without it.
According to the sources, the teacher is now under house arrest. There is no certain information as to whether he was released from his position at the school. According to one source, the release was “voluntary” and “backdated,” according to another source, the teacher is still listed as a part of the teaching staff, but suspended from his duties.
According to reports, earlier the places of residence of the teacher and his close relatives were searched in order to detect objects or documents of any importance to clarify the situation.
From February 21 up to now, no department has officially confirmed or denied the information about the possible case of pedophilia in gymnasium No. 13, among them is the Ministry of Education of the Penza region and the regional department of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
