Incidence rate of respiratory viral infection and flu increased by almost 40% in Penza region

Penza, 24 March 2014. PenzaNews. The incidence rate of respiratory viral infections and flu increased by 38,4% in the Penza region over the past week. This was announced by the press service of the regional department of the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-Being on Monday, March 24.

The department clarified that in total 2,775 cases of respiratory viral infections, which is 202,8 cases per 100 thousand people.
“However, the incidence rate is below epidemiological theshold at 51,4%,” the department stressed.
The press service added that two cases of influenza B were laboratory-confirmed.
“Both of them have been registered in Penza. The patients have been hospitalized, they are receiving necessary medical care,” the press service said.
