Penza, 28 March 2014. PenzaNews. Creation of a new square at the intersection of Suvorova and Nekrasova Streets near Penza Regional Philharmonic is a great victory for the team who had worked on the project. This opinion was expressed by mayor Roman Chernov during the 60th session of the City Duma held on Friday, March 28.

“It' is an infrastructure thing, very powerful urban thing that we created in Penza,” the head of the city administration said.
According to Roman Chernov, to some extent, the new facility will be able to compensate for the loss of Sovetskaya Square, where the Saviour Cathedral is currently under construction.
He admitted that the reconstruction of the temple at the historic site was a risky undertaking, which caused a lot of controversy and conflict.
“Realizing that it might be a mistake in the future, knowing that the city lost the largest square, we created a square several times larger at the intersection of Suvorova and Nekrasova Streets. I think it is a great victory of the city team, thanks to whom we have such a significant urban facility now. It cost a lot of work and nerves,” Roman Chernov stressed out.
