Resident of Penza region having run over drug service officer arrested

Penza, 31 March 2014. PenzaNews. Driver of “Nissan Pathfinder,” who ran over two police officers of the Federal Drug Control Service, as a result of which one of them died and the other was hospitalized with injuries, was detained in Pioner village, the Kuznetsk area on Monday, March 31.

“After the incident which occurred last Sunday, March 30, the “Interception” opration was introduced in the region, additional duty stations were established. After some time the vehicle was found in Pioner village. Soon after that, the driver was identified — he was hiding in an abandoned house,” the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the region told news agency “PenzaNews.”
The ministry clarified that the detainee is a resident of the Penza region, born 1985, who has been brought to criminal liability before.
As news agency PenzaNews reported earlier, last Sunday, March 30, during operational work on detaining of a group of people suspected in drug trafficking, one of the suspects ran over the investigators.
The incident occurred in Kuznetsk, the Penza region.
As a result, one of the officers of the Federal Drug Control Service died on the spot, and the other one was hospitalized.
