Penza, 3 April 2014. PenzaNews. The Internet connection has become several times faster due to the introduction of optical communication lines of Rostelekom in several villages of the Penza region.

“Currently, more than 16 thousand subscribers living in small settlements of the region have the opportunity to use the service “Home Internet” at 2 Mbit / s. Such an opportunity came as a result of active fiber-optic communication lines construction. As a part of the program for the development of fiber optic lines, for the past three years, there were built around one thousand kilometers of optical lines covering 194 villages. 150 km were installed last year in 32 villages. Network upgrade allowed setting data transmission to a new level and made advanced telecommunications services available to the residents,” the representative of Penza branch of OJSC Rostelekom told news agency “PenzaNews.”

The company added that ithe residents of many villages got access to a brand new service — an interactive TV with a large number of popular news and entertainment channels and a wide range of unique services, including “Electronic Program Guide,” “Playback Control,” “Karaoke,” and “Video rental.”

According to the head line-technical workshop of Rostelekom of Shemysheyka village Sergei Orlov, in 2012-2013 optics appeared in six settlements of the area.

“The capacity of data transmission channel was increased up to 1 Gbit / s And the speed to the subscriber varies from 2 to 6 Mbit / s, depending on the service package. The company makes a big deal, investing in the communities where services are in high demand, and the people are very happy about this fact,” he said.

In turn, the director of Penza branch of OJSC Rostelekom Lev Dyatlov noted that developing data network in the villages, the company systematically eliminates the digital inequality.

“The result is equal access to information and communication services in urban and rural areas. With the introduction of new technologies, we increase the quality of life, create new convenient conditions for the Internet users,” he stressed.

According to official figures, there are currently over 87 thousand residents of the Penza region using the Internet and about 21 thousand watching “Interactive TV” by Rostelekom.
