Penza, 18 April 2014. PenzaNews. Use of water from Penza springs for drinking is epidemiologically unsafe and can lead to massive infectious diseases. This was announced by the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-Being in the region on Friday, April 18.

The service explained that, according to the latest data, water quality in 14 of 19 existing springs does not meet hygienic standards for microbiological indicators.

“They are the following — spring “Samovarnik,” and those located in Gornaya Street, 22, Kurskaya Street, 50, Stavropolskaya Street, 2 and 27, Aminevka, 22, Pravdy Street, 165, Chebysheva Street, 70, Vishnevaya Street, 6, Tulskaya Street, Kordon Studeny Street, near tourist complex “Zaseka,” near airport “Virazh” and near the ski stadium in Arbekovo. Water quality in springs in Pravdy and Kordon Studeny Streets does not correspond to the requirements of sanitary and chemical content of nitrates,” the press service of the regional department told news agency “PenzaNews.”

The department reminded that the springs are not a source of drinking water, and their use can lead to massive infectious diseases.

“Spring water must be boiled before drinking,” the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-Being in the region stressed.
