Penza, 17 April 2014. PenzaNews. The collection of signatures in support of doctor Timofey Nevvazhay, who used to head pediatric heart surgery department of the Federal Center for Cardiovascular Surgery (FCCS) located in Penza, was announced on the website “Dear heart.”

The petition with over one thousand signatures is addressed to president Vladimir Putin, the Ministry of Health of Russia and president of the National Medical Chamber Leonid Roshal.

“We are the parents of children who have been given terrible diagnosis “Congenital Heart Disease.” There are those among us, who grew up with a heart disease. We all know about the successful practice of Timofey Nevvazhay, a wonderful heart surgeon, the head of the pediatric heart surgery department of the Federal Center for Cardiovascular Surgery (FCCS) of Penza — he operated our children to save their lives and health, consulted, helping parents to understand and choose the place and the period of operation, he even helped with such problems as issuing the quota. Referring to him on any matter, we always received support, assistance, professional detailed response, which tells about his integrity, responsibility and professionalism. He saved the lives of even unborn children,” the statement reads.

It also notes that it is mostly thanks to the efforts of Timofey Nevvazhay that medical help was rendered not only to the local residents, but also to the patients from remote territories.

“It is worth noting that he organized the work of all the children's department very professionally, recruited a team of specialists, who, without sparing themselves, helped him to save children's lives every single day. These people had no concept of “working time” — if there was a needto stay up late at work, they did. These people gave us the main thing — healthy hearts of our children. We remained calm and knew that these doctors will do everything possible to save our children's lives,” the petition explains.

It specifies that on April 11, 2014, Timofey Nevvazhay was forced to resign from the hospital.

“Conditions have been created, in which further work was complicated, practically impossible. If he continued work in Penza, the results would have worsened. His team is leaving with him,” the petition states.

Its authors claim to provide conditions so that Timofey Nevvazhay and his team continued to work in Russia.

“We cannot let this talented cardiosurgeon with huge potential leave Russia. Timofey Nevvazhay and his team should be able to work in our country. They just need to have decent working conditions in well-equipped modern cardiac surgery center. Even if not in Penza... We are ready to follow him to every corner of our country,” the population states.
