Penza, 22 April 2014. PenzaNews. A resident of Sosnovoborsky area, the Penza region was sentenced to 11 months of imprisonment in a penal colony for nonpayment of alimony in favor of his two children.

“The man owes almost 300 thousand rubles. He has not worked for a long time, and did not even try to find a job,” the chief expert in media relations of the regional administration of Federal service of judicial bailiffs Kseniya Pivovarova told news agency “PenzaNews.”

She explained that a criminalcase was instituted against the irresponsible father under Part 1, Art. 157 of the Criminal Code “Malicious evasion of alimony for children or disabled parents.”

“The magistrate decided that the penalty of deprivation of liberty will contribute to correction and rehabilitation of the debtor,” the agency interlocutor noted.

Kseniya Pivovarova added that since the beginning of 2014, there have been filed 206 criminal cases under Part 1, Art. 157 of the Criminal Code against debtors evading parental duty for a long time.
