Zarechny, 28 April 2014. PenzaNews. A reconstruction of one of the fights from the Great Patriotic War will be shown in Penza region’s Zarechniy central park on Thursday, May 8.

According to Vyacheslav Gladkov, head of town administration, one of the organizers of the event is the “Garnison-A” military-historic club.

Zarechniy mayor also added that a traditional campaign “The Immortal Regiment” will take place on Victory Day. During this event, its participants will carry the pictures of their relatives, who went through the war, on the main street of the town.

“May 9 is Victory Day. I think it is the most significant holiday for our country, for the veterans, for their grand- and great-grandchildren, for the Russian people as a whole. We, Zarechniy citizens, respect and revere the heroic deed of Soviet people who protected the independency of our Motherland with their lives,” Vyacheslav Gladkov noted.

He explained that in the times when there remain less and less witnesses of the war, preserving the memory about the heroes becomes one of the most important missions.

“It is incredibly important to help our children know of the heroic past of their great-grandfathers. We must not only tell the kids about the Great Patriotic War, but also get them involved in patriotic events so that every one of them could feel that he belongs to it,” wrote head of Zarechniy administration in his LiveJournal.
