Penza, 13 May 2014. PenzaNews. The ceremony of awarding of the best nurses of healthcare institution of the Penza region took place as a part of the scientific-practical conference held at the Clinical Hospital named after N. Burdenko on Tuesday, May 13.

The event was timed to coincide with the International Day of the nurse, which was celebrated yesterday.

Welcoming colleagues, the head physician of the city emergency hospital named after G. Zakharyin, the member of the Legislative Assembly of the Penza region Vyacheslav Kosmachev noted that healthcare development occurs mainly due to the selfless work of nurses.

“I am not willing to reduce the role of doctors, but a huge army of nurses who work in the healthcare system in the region, bear a greater load on their fragile shoulders,” he said.

Vyacheslav Kosmachev also drew attention to the fact that nurses devote themselves to their work entirely, spending more time in hospitals than at home.

“Every day is a war for the sake of health and lives of patients. And in this war, you are friends and helpers on this battle field for us, doctors, and for patients each of you are a dear sister,” he added.

In turn, the deputy minister of health of the Penza region Oksana Chizhova noted that the nursing profession is one of the most humane.

“That nurses perform all doctor's assignments. Their caring word plays a significant role in the recovery of the patient. According to statistics, nurses perform up to 80 % of the total patient care,” she said.
