Rostelekom broadcasting Unified State Exam in progress

Penza, 26 May 2014. PenzaNews. Rostelekom began to broadcast the first unified state examination (USE) through CCTV, specially prepared by the company on the territory of Russia, including in the Penza region.

“Experts have tested and installed hardware and software systems in more than three thousand sites, including the places where the exam is taken and the regional centers processing data. As a result, a video surveillance system across the country is installed in over 36 thousand rooms of more than 16 thousand objects working online. Video from the rooms is broadcast in real time on a specially created portal Smotriege.ru, which is running from April 21. The examination will be supervised by over five thousand observers using the portal, who have been specially accredited by the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-Being,” the press secretary of Penza branch of OJSC Rostelekom Alexei Makarov told news agency “PenzaNews.”

He added that the portal users can receive support at 8-800-100-43-12.

“During the operation of the system, the call center have received more than one thousand calls from citizens,” the agency interlocutor noted.

Alexei Makarov said that video surveillance system created by Rostelekom has proved its effectiveness during the early exams, when all the elements worked normally.

“To implement the project, we involved our network infrastructure throughout the country. Video servers are based in seven regional data centers — in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Krasnodar, Samara, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk and Khabarovski Krai, as well as two regional data centers — in Magadan and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky,” the press secretary of Penza branch of OJSC Rostelekom clarified.

According to him, the equipment of data centers will allow receiving, processing and storing information from all points of the USE with total volume of more than 200 terabytes.

“Besides, Rostelekom has set a video wall in situational and information Centre of the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-Being in Moscow. It airs video from all the USE sites nationwide. This allows collecting general information from all regions and operational control over the process. At the same time, observers from the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-Being can watch up to 72 videos from different regions. The videowall will be operating for the whole duration of the exam, starting from April 21, 2014,” Alexei Makarov said.

He stressed that the performance of the system will provide video broadcasting for up to 1,2 million simultaneous users and up for 60 thousand concurrent views with one camera.

“Work on this ambitious project involved more than five thousand employees, we organized two thousand mobile teams,” the agancy interlocutor concluded.

Rostelekom and the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-Being concluded a state contract to provide services for organization of video surveillance at the Unified State Examination (USE) on the territory of the Russian Federation in 2014.

In accordance with the decree of the Russian government, Rostelekom is uniquely determined as a service provider in charge of accessing data, broadcasting on the Internet, collecting and storing the received video to implement surveillance during the exam in 2014.
