Penza, 28 May 2014. PenzaNews. Unique transplantation surgery of a toe to hand was held in Penza city hospital named after G. Zakharyin. It was performed by Moscow microsurgeon Timofey Sukhinin and his colleague from Penza Mikhail Shcherbakov.

As the press service of the regional Ministry of Health told news agency “PenzaNews,” the patient waited for this operation for 1,5 years after he had injured his hand.

“Currently, the man is under medical supervision, the postoperative period passes without complications,” the department noted.

The ministry clarified that this operation was carried out for the first time in Penza.

“It confirms the high level of professionalism and expertise of local surgeons who adopt and implement new technologies,” the press service underlined.
