Student from India diagnosed with vivax malaria recurrent in Penza

Penza, 28 May 2014. PenzaNews. Recurrent of imported vivax malaria was confirmed by the laboratory in a blood sample of a student from India, born 1995, who is studying in Penza. This was reported by the press service of the regional department of the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-Being to news agency “PenzaNews.”

The ministry clarified that the young man already had malaria iat the age of 16.

“He arrived in Penza in September 2013. Presumably, the man got sick on May 16, 2014. From that day he noted malaise, discomfort, fever. The young man visited a doctor on May 19, he was given a primary diagnosis of “acute bronchitis.” On the same day the patient was admitted to the infectious department of the Penza regional clinical center of specialized types of medical care. On May 23 he had his blood tested for malaria, the result of which was “late recurrent of vivax malaria P.vivax,” the department said.

The press service noted that this is the second case of malaria recurrence in 2014.

“The first one was registered on March 10, in sample of a resident of Penza, born 1987, who had malaria in December 2013. He took “Lariam” on a standard scheme and received radical treatment due to lack of “Primachinum” in the Penza region and the Russian Federation,” the department explained.
