Penza, 30 May 2014. PenzaNews. Penza subscribers of Megafon are now able to test the benefits of new fourth-generation network by configuring 4G mode to conserve battery power, which is usually spent on the mobile Internet.
“When the data transmission of modern smartphones and tablets is on, they exhibit high activity in the network supporting the work of messengers, updating information from social networks, emails, weather, news, stocks. Our experts have analyzed the activity and set up a 4G network so that the gadget after the transfer of useful information would quickly enter sleep mode when the battery consumption is minimal. The quality of high-speed mobile Internet on 4G Megafon will remain at a high level,” the infrastructure director of Volga Federal District branch of Megafon Yevgeny Kiselyov told news agency “PenzaNews.”
He reminded that the new settings were applied by the operator with respect to third-generation networks.
“Current improvements include all devices supporting 4G (LTE), with batteries — smartphones, tablets, and some routers. The settings can save up to 56% of battery charge, which is spent to work in the network,” the agency interlocutor said.
According to Yevgeny Kiselyov, after the opening of pages on the Internet 4G-device, the device used to remain active for another 20 seconds, but now this period is reduced to 6 seconds.
“The user continues to read the page, and the difference of 14 seconds helps conserving battery power,” he said.
The infrastructure director of Volga Federal District branch of Megafon drew attention to the fact that the operator settings can not affect the amount of charge consumed for the automatic synchronization of large amounts of data, as well as supporting the work of a powerful platform, screen brightness, sleep mode, data transfer via Wi-Fi and other activity outside the mobile network.
“The effect of settings is noticable when using the mobile Internet 4G Megafon. For example, in “router — smartphone” unit — when a smartphone is connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi, the router saves the charge in contact with the mobile network operator,” Yevgeny Kiselyov clarified.
