Penza, 10 June 2014. PenzaNews. Phone fraud cases when attackers call the citizens on behalf of public prosecutors have become more frequent in the Penza region.

“For example, in June 2014 several citizens and representatives of business organizations came to the deputy prosecutor of the Penza region after receiving similar phone calls. In addition, law enforcement agencies recorded case of fraud on the phone when a person on behalf of a prosecutor called a businessman and declared the necessity of transferring funds in order to prevent cerification,” the Senior Assistant Attorney of the Penza region Yuliya Makarova told news agency “PenzaNews.”

She explained that, as a rule, such calls are made to fraudulently appropriate funds of the citizens with the help of money terminals.

“The prosecutor's office operates on a free basis. Any money transfers to individuals posing prosecutors are illegal. In case of this kind of phone calls, report to the duty prosecutor (8412) 66-03-35,” the agency interlocutor said.
