Penza, 12 June 2014. PenzaNews. Grand opening of updated gallery of honor and glory was held in Penza as a part of the celebrations of Russia Day and City Day on Thursday, June 12.

In a welcoming speech the governor of the Penza region Vasily Bochkarev thanked Penza residents for their hard work and devotion to the motherland.

He noted that in recent years the region has succeeded in some areas.

“Thus, last year we produced 7,5 tonnes of turkey meat, this year we will double the result — 15 tons. And every next year in the future, doubling is planned. In 2016, for the first time Penza will be the leader in turkey meat production in Russian — 60 tons. This is two times more than all poultry meat produced in the Penza region in Soviet times,” the head of the region said.

Vasily Bochkarev expressed special gratitude to educators, who help the younger generation to become more adventurous.

He wished the pace-makers to continue with their professional success and new achievements.

For services in the formation and implementation of social and economic policies of the Penza region, a large contribution to the culture, art, education, protection of health, life and rights of citizens, the working teams of Peza enterprises were added to the gallery of honor and glory of the region, such as JSC “Himmash-Start,” production assosiation “ Elektropribor,” Penza banch of OJSC “Megafon,” JSC “Penzastroy,” regional ophthalmologic hospital and a number of other institutions and enterprises.

Also, the collection of the gallery of honor and glory was replenished with portraits of pace-makers, among them are factory workers, drivers, engineers, accountants, teachers, athletes and medical workers.
