Penza, 12 June 2014. PenzaNews. Traditional race on rafts dedicated to the celebration of City Day was held on the waterfront of the Sura river in Penza on Thursday, June 12.

The event, organized by company “Visit,” which is a manufacturer of natural mineral water “Nadezhda,” brought together citizens who prefer active leisure, as well as a large number of fans who came to support their friends and acquaintances.

Cloudy and cool weather did not deter the participants — all rounds were held, according to the program of competitions.

As a result, the first place in the category “There is power, there is a prize!” among men was taken by team “Varyag No. 5,” among women — “Kulebyaki No. 20.” In the category “Heirs of Kulibin,” where craft's originality was assessed, teams “Kulebyaki No. 2” and “Kulebyaki No.20” among men and women, respectively, gained their prizes.

According to the rules of the competition, the winners were awarded certificates for 10 thousand rubles, diplomas and prizes.

Second places are as follows. In the category “There is power, there is a prize!” men team “Champion No. 6” and “Kulebyaki No.18,” as well as women teams “Youth No. 23” and “Heartbreakers No. 15.” In the category “Heirs of Kulibin” men team “Technicians No. 2” and “Youth No. 2,” as well as women — “Matryoshka No. 41” and “Olga No. 35.”

They received certificates for six thousand rubles.

Bronze medalists of the race in the category “There is power, there is a prize!” became men teams “Technicians No. 3,” “Visit No. 40” and “Bro No. 36,” among women — “Amazons No. 1,” “Sirens No. 22” and “Eagles No. 29.” In the category “Heirs of Kulibin” the third step of the podium belongs to men teams “Champions No. 2,” “Bzhik No. 42” and “Swimmers No. 2.” Only two women teams received third place prizes — “Youth No. 24” and “Kulibyaki No. 21.”

They received certificates for three thousand rubles.

The event took place on the waterfront under the motto “Penza for health and positive.” It was supported by several grounds: dance and music ground, children's ground, “meadow of health,” a sports town with a climbing wall, archery range, a trampoline and other attractions.

Holiday continued with concert program “Russian hit” during which local artists and invited guests performed. Among them are singer Lera Masskva and “Karmen” band.

The final part of “Congratulations, Penza!” began at 22.00. It culminated with fireworks.

Raft race was first held in Penza in 2007. Then it was a corporate environmental action of company “Visit” aimed at drawing attention to the production from the natural mineral water “Nadezhda.” Employees made rafts from used plastic bottles and disposed the rafts afterward.

Since 2011, the event received the status of city-wide, and it welcomed everyone.
