Penza, 3 July 2014. PenzaNews. 73 residents of the Penza region turned to hospitals of the Penza region with mite bites over the past week — from June 27 to July 3.

As the press service of the regional department of the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-Being told news agency “PenzaNews,” 26 people out of the total number are under 14 years old.

“For comparison, during the same period last year, 31 people suffered from the bites of these parasites,” the department noted.

Since the beginning of epidemiological season, the number of mite victims amounted to 824 in the Penza region. In 2013, this number was 488.
