She clarified that the exam was taken by 6412 people, including 6238 graduates of this year.

“In 2014, students of the Penza region showed good results. If the average score in mathematics in Russia amounted to 39.6 points, our region averaged at 45.8 points. The Russian language [results] are a bit worse: 60.9 in the region, 62.4 in Russia. Despite that, we have higher average scores in chemistry, biology, history, social studies and foreign languages,” the minister said.

She added that there was a total of 231 appeals on the amount of points awarded: 41 of them were satisfied, and points were deducted in two cases.

Svetlana Kopeshkina noted that 102 graduates of incomplete secondary education (the 9-graders) failed to receive their education sertificates.

“They can repeat the course and train in four multiskilling vocational colleges in Penza, Serdobsk, Kuznetsk and Nizhnelomovsk. These are three-month courses, which means that the graduates will be able to get as many as three specialties and decide on their future,” the minister of education of the region said.

She said that so far, 46 graduates of 9th grade have chosen to enroll into vocational education.

“After completing the courses and taking final certification in 2015, they will be admitted to the first course of the chosen specialty,” the press service of the Ministry of Education of the Penza region quoted Svetlana Kopeshkina.
