Penza, 6 August 2014. PenzaNews. Water quality in all 19 water springs located on the territory of Penza does not meet the hygienic microbiological standards, said the press service of the regional department of the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-Being.

The ministry added that in four more springs — on Pravdy, 165, Chebysheva, 70, Stavropolskaya, 2, and Kordon Studeny — water does not meet the hygienic chemical standards.
“Houses, private buildings, and cesspits are located close to some of the springs, which may lead to water pollution. In addition to that, there hav been no hydrogeological surveys so far, and there are no appropriate certificates on groundwater pollution protection. Therefore, the springs located in Penza should not be used as sources of drinking water,” the department emphasized.
The department added that the use of such spring water is unsafe and can lead to massive intestinal infections.
