According to Bishop, it is also symbolic that the ceremony took place precisely on the feast day of the cathedral.

“Today, we are witnessing how this monument is recreated, which will be even more majestic, stable and confident in the future than the ruined temple. Looking for a new cathedral, we can all rejoice for power and greatness of our Motherland,” Bishop Seraphim said.

Bishop addressed special word of thanks to governor of the Penza region Vasily Bochkarev, who participated in the consecration and provided full support to the work of the clergy in restoring Spassky Cathedral.

In his turn, the head of the region said that as soon as a new temple will be the center of attraction for the residents of the Penza region and neighboring regions.

“We are lucky to have you — we live in a time when the flag of the Penza region has Savior image, then we switched to the restoration of our mosque and the main temple. This is a beautiful religious and, may it be said, cultural institution,” Vasily Bochkarev said.
