Over 66,5 thousand Penza region children visited summer camps within 7 months

Penza, 15 August 2014. PenzaNews. 66,632 children of the Penza region, 20,439 of whom are the children in difficult life situations, visited summer camps during the seven months of 2014.

As the press service of the regional Ministry of Education told news agency “PenzaNews,” during this period, 485 recreation centers operated for children: 28 recreation camps, 420 day-care camps, 30 work and recreation camps, 3 sanatoriums and four tent camps

“34,048 children stayed in the summer camps with day care in educational organizations of the region, 9,910 rested in recreation camps, 2,779 stayed in work and recreation camps, 2,781 children rested in sanatoriums. 135 children visited tent camps. 421 people were sent outside the Penza region. 175 children visited Crimea. 107 children went abroad,” the press service said.

The ministry added that during the summer school holidays, 16,276 children took 825 long-term camping trips.

“Currently, third and fourth sessions with 5,185 children are ongoing. 17 recreation camps accommodate 3,626 people, 3 sanatoriums — 490 people, 6 work and recreation camps — 198 children, 20 camps with day care — 851 people,” the regional Ministry of Education said.

The press service also said that currently one tent camp with 20 campers is operating.

“175 children in difficult life situations were sent to the Crimean ‘Chayka’ summer camp,” the department spokesperson said.
