Penza, 2 September 2014. PenzaNews. “There are certain inconveniences; they existed before, and there will be more in the future, such as disgruntled people. I think the city simply should apologize [to the residents] and ask them to be patient. It will become better actually,” he said to radio station “Echo of Penza” on Tuesday, September 2.

Oleg Volodin also stated that the work is still going to be completed as scheduled.

“I attend staff meetings, I hear what contractors and the general contractor say. In fact, the due date is still September 22,” Oleg Volodin said, commenting on the statement by Pavel Alexandrov, head of housing and communal services of Penza, about delays in construction.

Director of municipal enterprise “Penza traffic center” also commented on the cutting down of linden avenue, which served as a kind of green shield for homes and pedestrians against dust in Suvorova Street.

“Cutting down the trees was necessary. I am saying all this because I know this firsthand. I used to walk here myself. Lindens are actually perennial, and the air, the smell of Russian summer, is absolutely stunning. It was impossible to do that without one’s hands shaking. Municipal enterprise ‘Green economy of Penza’ undertook this step following the points of the project. And I assure you that we will make up for what we’ve done – the green zone will be restored,” Oleg Volodin said.
