On Wednesday morning, September 3, Vasily Bochkarev walked though the fair rows asking sellers about the technologies they use for cultivating and growing their produce.

Head of the region paid particular attention to local fruit, vegetables, berries, as well as flour, honey and other products.

Agricultural producers from the areas of the Penza region tried to outdo each other offering the governor to evaluate the quality of their products. As a result, the governor tasted cheese produced in Maloserdobinsky area, and was pleased.

Commenting on what he saw, Vasily Bochkarev said that agricultural products from the areas are in demand among the citizens.

He also appealed to the private farm owners to actively engage in trade.

“After the harvest, many farmers have surplus produce left. It would be better if they brought them to the fair and sold off, instead of just putting it down into the cellars,” the governor said.

According to governor’s plans, surplus produce should be sold either individually or from cooperatives.

Vasily Bochkarev also drew attention to the fact that the fair started two months earlier than usual, so that the residents felt no inconvenience due to the recent food import ban.

Discussing the price issue, the governor explained that the government cannot do anything to regulate them.

“Initially, when we provide the marketing area here, we ask the people to not inflate the prices. But we have no right to control them with any laws. I see there is a demand, so it means that people are satisfied with the prices,” said the Penza region governor.
