Bank of Russia will issue coins commemorating Mikhail Lermontov’s 200th anniversary

Penza, 3 September 2014. PenzaNews. The Bank of Russia will issue coins of the historical series “200th birth anniversary of M. Lermontov” on Friday, September 5.
According to information posted on the Bank’s website, silver coins will be issued in denominations of 3 and 25 rubles, and gold coins — in denominations of 50 rubles.
The coin obverse will have a circular bead rim with the relief image of the logo of Bank of Russia, a two-headed eagle with wings down. Under it will be a semicircular inscription “Bank of Russia.” Along the rim will be an inscription: “Three rubles,” “Twenty-five rubles,” and “Fifty rubles,” respectively, along with the mint year — “2014.”
On the reverse side of the silver 3-ruble coin will be relief images on the background of the battle scene: to the right — Mikhail Lermontov’s portrait, to the left — two soldiers of the Russian army. At the top — the facsimile signature of the poet and the dates in two lines “1814,” “1841.”
On the reverse side of the silver 25-ruble coin will be mountains and manuscript fragment on the background with relief images of the poet’s portrait and episodes of his works. At the top there is also the facsimile signature of the poet and the dates in two lines “1814,” “1841.”
On the reverse side of the gold 50-ruble coin will be relief images of the poet’s portrait and a sail boat. At the top there is a facsimile of the signature and the dates in two lines “1814.” “1841.”
It is expected that the circulation of silver 3-ruble coins will amount to three thousand pieces, 25-ruble coins — one thousand, gold 50-ruble coins — 1.5 thousand pieces.
