Zarechny pensioner beaten by aggressive driver, delivered to intensive care

Zarechny, 5 September 2014. PenzaNews. Police officers are investigating the circumstances of a road incident that occurred in Lenina Street in Zarechny, the Penza region, which resulted in a 66-year-old pensioner being brought into intensive care.

“A woman reported to law enforcement agency that an unknown has beaten down an elderly man and fled by car. She reported the car license plate number. The police officers who arrived to the scene found that there was a conflict between the driver and the pensioner, due to which the latter was seriously injured. Later, the identity of the person who caused the injuries to the victim was established. It was a 40-year-old local resident who had previously been held criminally responsible. After an interrogation, he confessed to the crime,” the press service of the Ministry if Internal Affairs in the region told news agency “PenzaNews.”

The ministry explained that the suspect’s car had to stop abruptly.

“The victim was riding in a taxi after the car. When the man got out of the car to go home, he made a remark to the driver who had made the maneuver. Then the attacker beat down the elderly man, then left the scene,” the press service explained.

The department added that the incident is under investigation, the decision of a criminal case institution has not been made yet.
