Penza region received first influenza vaccine batch

Penza, 5 September 2014. PenzaNews. The first batches of “Grippol” and “Grippol plus” vaccines intended for influenza immunization of children and adults, respectively, arrived in the Penza region.
As Natalia Tyugaeva, head of the organization of medical care and sanatorium business of the regional Ministry of Health, told news agency “PenzaNews,” given the fact that in the population structure of the Penza region over 76% of deaths are among the persons over 60 years old, this year this age group will receive special attention.
“The fact is that people over 60 are hit by seasonal flu particularly hard, and the risk of cardiovascular diseases as a complication of influenza is high among them,” the agency interlocutor explained.
According to her, immunization began in Belinsky area, and vaccinations will take place in Luninsky area the week after.
“Anyone else will still be able to get vaccinated against influenza if he wishes,” Natalia Tyugaeva said.
She said that according to the National Immunization Schedule, funds for immunization of 450 thousand adults and 100 thousand children in the coming epidemiological season were provided from the federal budget.
