Penza, 11 September 2014. PenzaNews. Events dedicated to the All-Russian Sobriety Day that is celebrated on Thursday, September 11, were organized on Fontannaya Square in Penza.

There, the citizens can study the information stands with information about the negative consequences of alcohol abuse, and themed social ads broadcast on a big screen.
Volunteers of Charity Fund “Pokrov,” which is one of the organizers of the action, are handing out leaflets to citizens.
Also, all those who wish to receive psychological counseling are welcome.
The event is aimed at people suffering from alcoholism, and their families, who are often also need the help of professionals.
According to the cleric of the temple of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul Alexiy Gorshkov, the Orthodox Church seeks to show the people with addiction the benefits of sober lifestyle and complete abstinence from alcohol.
He explained that over the past two years there is a parish temperance society at the church.
“In the temple of Peter and Paul, we conducted prayers before the icon “The Inexhaustible Chalice” every week on Sundays at 16.00,” the archpriest said, adding that every parishioner has the opportunity to speak with the priest.
Alexiy Gorshkov said that up to 200 people took a vow of sobriety since the community was organized.
It is expected that the activities of the All-Russia Day of sobriety will last on Fontannaya Square till 17.00.
