The event was organized by JSC “Center of cluster development” of the Penza region, the association of software developers “Secon” and “Michael Kechinov’s startups development studio” from St. Petersburg.
During hackathon programmers, system administrators, designers, marketers, copywriters and other professionals from different fields of activity — more than 80 people all in all — teamed up to create original online projects.
As general director of JSC “Center of cluster development” Mikhail Lyashkov told news agency “PenzaNews,” not only the representatives of Penza participated in “HackDay #32,” but also specialists from Ulyanovsk, Saransk, Moscow and St. Petersburg.
“HackDay” is a federal-scale event held by “Michael Kechinov’s startups development studio” experts in different cities. They came to Penza for the first time. And before Penza, there were 31 hackathons this year. During “HackDay #32,” the participants are to go from the idea to prototype in 48 hours. And there are no restrictions as to the topics of Internet projects. It can be both websites and apps for mobile platforms or any device,” he stressed.
At hackathon opening, 17 participants took turns to present their ideas in 90 seconds. A person had to explain the essence of the project and the ways of its implementation, as well as name the specialists he needed for this.
Then “HackDay #32” participants divided into teams and started brainstorming. They had to spend two days in almost incessant work on projects. Some even brought sleeping bags and travel mats in order to have a few-hours sleep. The participants of hackathon were provided with hot meals on the territory of the park. Many competitors never left the building for not to lose time.
In addition, on Saturday and Sunday, “HackDay #32” participants had educational events planned. Well-known IT-community representatives shared their experience with them. The training was conducted by experts of Aviasales.ru, Yandex.ru, TimePad.ru and Bit.Games company.
By the end of hackathon, not all participants’ ideas were put into practice. Out of 17 teams that started the development of projects, only 14 reached the demonstration stage.
Project prototypes differed from each other. After the presentations, the jury chose the best of them.
The winner of “Start-up” category became “One click” service. The best in “Technology” category was named the project “Funny remote.” In “Hack,” jury chose the game application “The gunner’s day.”
The experts particularly noted the project “Ded Moroz” [Father Frost], which was the best in “Business” category. According to them, the developers may start making profit in the near future.
The winners of four teams received certificates and prizes from sponsors. In addition, each participant of hackathon, who managed to bring the idea into a prototype within 48 hours, received a T-shirt with the print “I survived on “HackDay #32.”
Mikhail Kulakov, representative of “Michael Kechinov’s startups development studio” summarized the results of Penza hackathon.
“We are extremely pleased to have 14 prototypes of projects that I hope will live tomorrow. There were agitated battles over nominations, but I’d like to notice that “HackDay” is not a competition. Anyone who achieved some progress here can be pleased with himself. I believe that the synergy which developed at the event has a positive outcome. I hope that “HackDay” will become a good tradition in Penza, and we will meet here again and again,” Mikhail Kulakov concluded.
