According to the published information, PenzaNews reached the citation index of 44.52 points.

GTRK Penza, a subsidiary of All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (VGTRK), took the lead in the rating. According to Medialogia, its citation index is 44.63 points.

The third leading company became Penzainform.ru, which is not an officially registered news agency, with a citation index of 35.91 points. A substantial part of its news content consists of video reports provided by Nash Dom broadcasting company.

Other media resources in the Penza region top 10 are Penza-press.ru online media (24.85), Nasha Penza newspaper (21.27), Vpenze.ru portal (12.83), Pravda-news.ru web-based source (7.21), Penzenskaya Pravda newspaper (5.06), Zarechye Segodnya newspaper (4.43), and Komsomolskaya Pravda—Penza newspaper (3.93).

Commenting on the results of the rating, Pavel Polosin, editor-in-chief of PenzaNews agency, drew attention to the fact that only a single news agency made it into the ten most cited media in the region.

“This is remarkable. Recently, Penza region saw the appearance of many media resources that call themselves ‘news agencies’ without being news agencies legally and structurally. As a result, they often spread unverified and heavily biased information without bearing any responsibility for it. ‘PenzaNews’ had been registered as a news agency as early as in 2008, and since then our team has been closely adhering to the Russian Mass Media Law, providing accurate, fair and prompt information to our audience,” he said.

PenzaNews editor-in-chief also noted the good results shown by GTRK Penza.

“I am truly happy for our colleagues. You can clearly see that the GTRK Penza staff tries to follow the standards set by VGTRK, the largest corporation among the government-supported electronic media. Moreover, the company began to pay more attention to supplying the content for its website, and I think this change came by partially due to employment of Natalia Eliseeva by GTRK in 2013: prior to that, she had been working in ‘PenzaNews’ agency as a deputy editor-in-chief,” Pavel Polosin said, also recalling his employment GTRK in 2003–2006 where he, among other tasks, helped create the company web portal as the head of the web broadcasting group.

He also suggested that the rating compiled by Medialogia is a yet another attempt to assess the activities of the regional media by a certain parameter.

“Of course, it is somewhat surprising that PenzaInform and Penza-Press, the media services affiliated with Nash Dom and Express, the largest broadcasting corporations in our region, scored almost two times lower than ‘PenzaNews’ agency. Unlike us, they have a variety of media capabilities they use to promote their resources. I think the reason may be in the public trust for different news sources. Nevertheless, this list and the Yandex citation index are not the reasons to sit down and relax. Such ratings are subject to change, while the day-to-day news agency work never stops,” PenzaNews editor-in-chief concluded.
