Penza, 6 October 2014. PenzaNews. The Orthodox church has blessed the five most accident-notorious crossroads last Saturday, October 4, in a joint action of the diocese and the regional STSI directorate.

“This action aims to remind the drivers that they are responsible for their own lives, and also for the lives and the well-being of other individuals. This event will be a starting point in our fight for the safety of the Penza region highways,” said the Penza diocese representatives to PenzaNews agency.

During the event, the Orthodox church has held the services “For all doings of good” and “The blessing for the traveling,” and a lity for the victims of car crashes.

After the service, the clergy with the road police visited five pre-selected routes over the city: the backup road by “Zaseka” restaurant, the Valyaevka backup road, the road on the crossroads by Karpinskovo street, Ternopolskaya—Rachmaninova streets and Ternovskovo—Experimentalnaya streets.

Moreover, the clergy and the traffic police talked to the drivers, gave the prayers for protection on the road, and personal icons of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, the patron saint of seafarers and all in travel.
