Penza City Duma youth council members took part in anti-alcohol raid

Penza, 13 October 2014. PenzaNews. Members of the youth council of Penza City Duma of the sixth convocation, together with the policem conducted a raid aimed at the detection and suppression of illegal sale of alcohol to minors.
The initiative of the event belongs to Viktor Kuvaytsev, city head, Roman Petrukhin, deputy chairman of the City Duma, and the representatives of the public youth council.
As Viktor Kuvaytsev noted, government and society need to work together to solve the problem of alcohol abuse among young people, because it is the younger generation that will shape the future of Penza, the region and the country.
“A huge amount of crimes are committed in the state of alcohol intoxication. We can try to reduce the number of such cases,” the city head added.
In turn, Alexander Antonov, chairman of the public youth council of the City Duma, stressed that no resident of the region must remain indifferent to the fact that various kinds of addictions are spreading among the young people.
“The worst thing is that it may begin with the first cigarette smoked, with the first gulp of alcohol, and end with drug abuse,” he said.
During the raid, in one of the chain stores of Zheleznodorozhny district of Penza, they witnessed a case of sale of low-alcohol drink to a young man under 18.
In accordance with applicable law, an administrative report was filed against the seller. He faces a 30-50 thousand ruble fine.
The public youth council intends to continue taking an active part in such raids and cooperating with the police: they plann to hold actions against drugs and to work with disadvantaged families.
