The event also involved the members of the regional Civic Chamber, as well as the representatives of local NGOs, and other involved individuals.

During the round table, the social activists presented their projects that are successfully being implemented on regional and federal levels, as well as several pilot initiatives.

In particular, the executive director of the “Civil Union” fund Oleg Sharipkov spoke highly of the charitable program “Equipment for the Benefit” that had been initiated by PenzaNews agency and has been active in the region since December 2009.

He reminded the participants of the round table discussion that nearly 80 aid recipients, among them troubled families, disabled persons, poor citizens, and social society NGOs, have received over 200 machines and periphery units thanks to the long-standing program.

The participants also presented such projects as “Resource center as system base for regional NGO coordination,” “Education through entrepreneurship,” “Kvartal Louie social and education center for special needs children,” the fund for family, motherhood and childhood support “Pokrov,” and “Doroga Zhizni,” as well as the others.

After the presentations, Alexander Brechalov gave his opinion on what he has heard, provided several remarks on the projects and noted that the Civic Chamber of Russian Federation is ready and willing to support certain initiatives.

“The projects spark interest. Some I have already seen in other regions, like the vital and interesting project to support troubled mothers. I think we must summarize the information and present something at the federal level as legislative initiatives. There are projects such as these in 30 regions, and they are highly essential – I’m talking about the issue of children, family and motherhood,” he said.

Moreover, the Civic Chamber secretary has specifically spoke of the project that aims to improve the adaptation process for children with disabilities. He noted that he found this project the most explored and detailed of those presented.

According to Alexander Brechalov, the heads of the selected projects will be invited to the plenary meeting of the Civic Chamber of Russia on November 26-28, where they will present the initiatives to the federal center members.

He also spoke of his surprise at the fact that the Civic Chamber of Penza at the time of his visit has not been sufficiently open to socially active citizens.

“I met the so-called bloggers in Penza this morning: they have a perfectly clear and important agenda, but somewhy nobody invites them [to the Civic Chamber]. And they have something to speak of – elections, pets, et cetera; and I am not just speaking about them, but [about the situation] overall. The Civic Chamber must become the platform for communication: the more examples of civic action we see in the regions, the more the country will benefit from it,” stressed the secretary of the Civic Chamber of Russia.
